For the first time since 2013, there will be a new Armed Forces Champion at RugbyTown Sevens.
The United States Navy defeated Air Force to win their first-ever Armed Forces Championship on Saturday. With the victory, Navy joins Marines and the Army as the third branch of the United States Armed Forces to take home the title since the tournament began in 2012.
While one champion was crowned on Saturday, the title of cup champion and the $10,000 grand prize remains on the line for four teams after the dust settled on the second day of the tournament.
The 2019 champion Ramblin’ Jesters rebounded from a late loss to Team Germany on Friday with a perfect day on Saturday. They defeated Army Rugby Union to move into the cup semifinals. When the Jesters get there, they will have a date with Samurai RFC. Samurai defeated D Block Santa Rosa 24-7 to punch their ticket to the cup semifinal.

On the other side of the bracket, SoCal Griffins advanced to the cup semifinals by beating Tsuanmi Barbarians 29-12 in the second to last match on Saturday evening. They will take on Team Germany who advanced after beating Navy 40-5.
With losses on Saturday, Army Rugby Union, D Block Santa Rosa, Tsunami Barbarians, and Navy will compete for the shield on Sunday.
While they won’t be competing for the RugbyTown Sevens title, Barbados 7s, SaberCat 7s, the USA U-23s, and the North American Lions will duke it out for the bowl championship when play resumes on Sunday.
Four teams remain in the hunt for the shield after Saturday’s action. The Air Force will take on Denver 7s Selects and Gorilla Rugby will face Old Breed Select Sevens for a shot at the shield finals on Sunday afternoon.
